Please make sure that your device is compatible with US frequencies before purchasing. If you are not sure, you can tell us the IMEI of your device and we will check it for you. Whatsapp use with the T-Mobile USA SIM card?

Many customers ask us “How does that work with Whatsapp?”. After inserting the US SIM card, Whatsapp recognizes that you are using a new phone number in your smartphone and asks you whether you want to use this new US phone number as your Whatsapp number. Answer this question with “No” and you can still find your contacts on Whatsapp under the German number. However, even if you were to switch to the US number in Whatsapp, your contacts would still be able to find you – but they would then be notified that you have a new Whatsapp number.

US phone number with the T-Mobile USA SIM card?

Yes, you have a US phone number. You will receive this from us by e-mail on the day of activation (you enter it yourself after receiving the SIM) and can pass it on if necessary. Calls from Germany with a German landline or mobile phone contract are quite expensive. We recommend that you tell your most important contacts that you can still be reached via Whatsapp, Skype or similar. Without such VoIP telephony, we recommend that you only answer calls from Europe briefly and then call the caller back via your flat rate. In the USA, phone numbers are quickly reassigned and “cold calls” are permitted; therefore, unfortunately, there will also be calls and text messages from unknown persons or advertisers. We recommend blocking these call or SMS numbers in your smartphone.

How does the activation of the T-Mobile USA SIM card work?

• After ordering, you will normally receive the SIM card 1-2 working days later by regular mail without tracking number.
• Please open the letter before traveling to the USA and follow the instructions in German and English. Use an online form to register the USA SIM for your desired activation date. We recommend that this desired date is one day before your departure to the USA. If you are in the USA for 30 days and have ordered a 30-day tariff, you should of course enter your arrival date as your preferred date.
• We activate in USA time, i.e. on the corresponding date according to US time.
• You will receive your activation e-mail with your USA phone number by 6 p.m. on the requested date. We recommend that you do not insert the SIM until you are on the plane or in the USA, as your smartphone will then access the settings via the US T-Mobile network and everything will work straight away.
